MEFF Sociedad Rectora del Mercado de Productos Derivados S. A. U. is BME’s Derivatives Exchange. Until September 9, 2013, MEFF Sociedad Rectora de Productos Derivados S.A. (MEFF) acted as official secondary market and central counterparty (CCP) in respect of the instruments included in the segment known as Financial Derivatives (futures and options on IBEX 35 and single stocks, dividend index futures, stock dividend futures and 10-year Notional Bond futures) and for electricity derivatives (MEFF Power). In order to comply with EMIR requirements (European Market Infrastructure Regulation, Regulation (EU) 648/2012), it was necessary to separate market activities from those of the CCP. This separation was made transferring the market activity of MEFF (legal entity until September 9, 2013) to a new company. As a result there are two companies, MEFF trading venue, and the previously existing one, acting exclusively as a CCP, called BME Clearing. For more information, visit https://www.meff.es/ing/Home
